My United Life: From Flixton, Manchester to West Lancashire via Munich and Belgrade Hardcover – January 20, 2026

This is the story of my United life, from the start of it in the late 1960s up to the present day. It includes my early years and why I became a Red. How approaching retirement I decided that I would like to give something back and so it includes the history of the Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation - MMMF and my role, the successful coalition campaign for recognition of the great Jimmy Murphy at Old Trafford and my efforts to set up a dementia club for our former players - ‘United in our Memories’, along with helping to establish the Roger Byrne Gorton Memorial Fund RBGMF.The book includes a Foreword written by United legend, Brian Kidd and with contributions from Oberburgermeister Dieter Reiter - the Lord Mayor of Munich, the Rt Hon Andy Burnham - the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Rosemary Blakeley (nee Cheverton), stewardess on flight BEA 609, the Kilinikum Rechts der Isar hospital in Munich and also fromFC Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer. Also further contributions from numerous members of the families of the famous Busby Babes including those of Mark Jones, Tommy Taylor, Harry Gregg, Dennis Viollet, Albert Scanlon, Bert Whalley and Tom Curry and also family friends of Eddie Colman. Plus many contributions from friends who know me well.I have enjoyed writing it and I just hope you enjoy reading it. Proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Society UK. Read more
